Normal Relay On A Latching Module

Actual latching relays are expensive and hard to find. Many relays modules call themselves latching relays, or bistable relays, but they are just a regular relay that flips the relay switch based on a short pulse. They need to keep powering the relay to close it in the Normally Open (NO) position. Therefore, you are always using power to hold it in that state, and you will lose that position if the module loses power.

A real latching relay, just needs to power pulse to one of 2 coils in order to switch from either state to the other. After that, no power is needed to hold the relay in either state the power source being removed won’t affect it either.
