Two 1000 Ohm Resistors In Series With 22 Volts Across Them

One benefit of using two 1,000 (1k) resistors in series instead of a single 2000 Ohm resistor is that the 2 1k resistor will divide the voltage in half, and therefore each of them will get half as hot as a long 2k resistor would have gotten.
