Charged capacitor parallel to PNP BJT Emitter and Base will provide current for a while after the power source is removed.
Closing the switch allows current to flow from Vcc, through the PNP Bipolar Junction Transistor Emitter to Base, and then to ground. That turns the transistor on, which turns the LED on. The capacitor also charges instantly.
After opening the switch, the capacitor will discharge through the emitter and base. Therefore, the transistor will stay on right after the switch is opened.
