A comparator output simply responds to whether the signal is either higher or lower than a reference voltage. Window comparators set their output based on whether or not the signal voltage is close to the reference voltage.
- Trimpot above 2/3 supply voltage sets top op amp low, so that LED lights up.
- Trimpot below 1/3 supply voltage sets bottom op amp low, so that LED lights up.
- Trimpot between 1/3 and 2/3 supply voltage sets both op amps high. So, LED stays off.
