79L05 Low Current Negative Voltage Regulator

79L05 integrated circuit can power a low current negative 5V load if the supply voltage goes down to at least approx. -7V. Dual/Split supplies have a positive and a negative voltage in relationship to a middle voltage called 0V ground.

You might also need a voltage that is 5 volts less than the positive supply voltage. That’s basically the same situation as what is described above.
