Hex inverter integrated circuits (ICs) have six (hex) NOT logic gates in them.
- 74LS06 is a special type of integrated circuit (IC) in that the output can have a much higher voltage applied to the output than what is powering the IC.
- Open collector output: Internally, the output turns off completely when high, and connects directly to ground when low. A pull up resistor is needed to provide any positive supply voltage/current to any load at the output. That same voltage/current is sunk to ground through the output when it is low.
- NOT gates: Output low when the input is high and output high when the input is low.
Kit above contains Low Power Schottky (LS) 7400 series ICs. Including the 74LS06 as of 8/30/2022. It’s an affiliate link as that supports this site.
