7805 5V positive voltage regulator IC

7805 is an integrated circuit (IC) that outputs 5V as long as it has an input of at least approx. 7V.

The 7800 IC series comes in a number other voltages.  The last 2 digits are the voltage it outputs. For example, the 7812 outputs 12V.
