Electronics photodiode component basics

Photodiode component is put into a circuit reversed biased (anode toward negative side of the power supply and cathode toward negative side of the power supply). In this way it limits the amount of current that it allows to be passed through it based on the amount of light falling on it. Less light = less current and more light = more current that is allowed to pass through.
