N Channel Enhancement Mode MOSFET used for Power Source Reverse Polarity Protection 2N7000

Applying power to a circuit in the wrong direction may cause damage. Therefore, reverse polarity protection is often obtained by using a diode. However, diodes block some of the power supply voltage from the load. Thus, there is noticeable loss of power whenever using a diode. A MOSFET used in place of a diode will greatly reduce power loss.
